This morning I had a scheduled 3 miler and I decided to add in a monstrous hill for fun. Well, I think it is monstrous. Oliver has a 200+ ft rise over less than .7 mile, at one point a 14% grade. I have never been able to run it - I usually get about a third of the way up and run out of gas. Well, this morning I killed it! OK, I battered it a little bit. :-) I ran an average of 10:21 (10:03/10:34/10:27) which wasn't bad considering the hills. I plan on doing this run once a week and I hope to eventually use it for hill sprints - I just don't think I'm there yet.
I am so freaking tired lately. Geneva has been sleeping really fitfully lately and it's keeping me awake (we still co-sleep); I'm not sure what's going on with her. This morning I was so excited that she was still asleep when I got back from my run because I thought I could slip back into bed and get a few more minutes of shut-eye...no deal. She stayed asleep for Jon the whole time I was gone, but as soon I got home she woke up. Oh well. I showered and we got ready for the Ash Wednesday service. That leads me to Lent - what is everyone giving up? I am giving up swearing (hard, especially while driving) and laziness (the laptop will make that IMPOSSIBLE). I want to do something like sugar or white flour, but I just don't see it happening. I'm incredibly weak.
I found a new route for my 10 miler on Sunday; I'm getting tired of the same old scenery and this seems like it might be fun. I'd like to start running earlier on Sundays but sometimes I get nervous, especially in new, unfamiliar areas. Any other female runners carry pepper spray? I'm considering it.
Lost is on tonight! Off to get the kiddo to bed!
I don't carry pepper spray, but I've thought about it. I stick to well-lit streets when it's dark out, but I still get the creeps when I'm pretty much the only one out and about.
ReplyDeleteMy son will be 6 this summer, and we still find our little co-pilot snuggled between us in the morning from time to time.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the pepper spray goes, their are some questionable area's that prevent me from running while dark... I think I'd like to borrow my neighbors Rotweiller instead, Daisy is pretty menacing. How do you calculate your time? A pedometer? Sorry, I'm new... yada yada yada...
My wonderful husband got me a Garmin 305 for Christmas - I absolutely recommend it. It was at that point that I could start really keeping track of my mileage and pace; it can be addictive!
