Pilates...OMG

A ballet mommy called this morning; she's the one who put us on to the new gym. Well, she is a serious gym-goer and wanted to invite me to the Pilates class she was taking. Geneva and I weren't even dressed yet, but we hauled a$$ and made it just in time...I kind of wish we hadn't because it was HARD. I couldn't believe how much I was sweating! The instructor said I had good form, though, so I guess I'm not as out of shape as I thought. The other ballet mommy wants me to start going to classes with her, so if I do the schedule will be something like this:

Monday - spinning in the morning
Tuesday - embedded circuits (2 miles/weights/2 miles) in the evening
Wednesday - road running in the morning, sculpting and Zumba in the evening
Thursday - Pilates and cardio machines in the morning
Friday - road running in the morning, weights and cardio and swimming with family in the evening
Saturday - off
Sunday - long road run in the morning

Obviously as I get further into my training for Detroit the indoor track runs will get longer; I'm not sure how that will go since it is all I can do to run 3 miles (18 laps) without breaking down from boredom. I've also got to move things around a little, because I don't want to do 2 days of weight sessions in a row, but I'll have to confer with Jon so our schedules mesh. The only downside is the driving - it's about 40 minutes roundtrip and I know gas is going up, so I really want to limit the amount of trips as much as possible.

I hope this works! I would love to have sculpted arms, defined abs, trim thighs for once in my life! I've been thinner before, but I was never toned, and time is running out! My youngest brother and his wife are havng a vow renewal ceremony and party in about 6 weeks and I want a new dress and I want to show off awesome shoulders and arms...I want to show everyone that 43 can be hot!!! I am also hoping that new-found confidence will heat things up at home, but more on that later...

  1. I did a pilates dvd the other day. My abs really hurt the next day.
Thing is, I'm not sure if they hurt from the "exercises" I did or the laughing I did at the thought that a human could actually do those things! One in particular - plank position, lift a leg. Can't do it. But wait...there's more! Still in plank position, bring lifted leg toward your nose and take back to lifted leg in back. WHAT??? Yeah...I just kept the plank position - at that point in time it was all I could manage. Still working on it, though!
Your workout schedule sounds very ambitious - that's exactly how I want to spend my summer! Good for you!

  2. Hello! Thank you for stopping by my blog!

You've had a big week - wow. I was really glad to read your post on pilates. They have it at my gym a few times a week, and I've been umming and ahhing over it for about a month. Your post has made me decide I'll go do it on Monday morning (and so it is written, and so it shall be!).

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I have yet to try Pilates. I'm scared O_o I'm still letting Yoga stretch me out :D But hey - I may have plenty more time for exercise in my future :p

And thank you, for your thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot to me :)

  4. Thanks for the reminder that my abs totally suck wind! I just need to do it. I hate it so, so dang boring.

The only way for a track workout NOT to be boring as hell, a partner or running group. I could never do it alone. I can only do it if I have someone to share my pain with!
